HAMTRAMCK, Mich. – Simply perfect in the Danny Dichio era.

So far.

Two games in and Detroit City FC remained unbeaten Saturday, as the Le Rouge posted a 2-1 triumph over visiting Loudoun United FC at Keyworth Stadium.

It was the home opener for DCFC and first home win for Coach Dichio.

Knotted 1-1, Maxi Rodriguez’s booted home the game-winner in the 72nd minute and the Le Rouge defense made it stand down the stretch.

It marked the first time since 2022 that Detroit City FC scored two or more goals in consecutive games – registering a 2-2 draw with FC Tulsa on Sept. 22, 2022, and a 4-0 victory over Loudon United on Oct. 1, 2022.

On the go-ahead goal, forward Elvis Amoh caught Loudon United goalkeeper Hugo Fauroux off guard in the 72nd minute and forced a pass through traffic ending at Rodriguez’s feet inside the box. Rodriguez took advantage of the open net and left no doubt in depositing the ball into the goal for a lead Le Rouge would not relinquish.

Nate Steinwascher and the Le Rouge defense shut down the United attack over the final 18 minutes plus stoppage time to preserve the win.

Detroit City FC held an 11-9 shots advantage in the game, including 6-4 with shots on frame, held a 6-4 advantage on cornerkicks and even held possession for 57 percent of the game. Still, it was Loudon United FC that took the early lead.

Applying consistent pressure, Loudon United FC broke the scoreless tie in the 14th minute. Forward Wesley Leggett broke free in the box and slipped a close-range shot past Nate Steinwascher for the early 1-0 advantage.

Even behind 68 percent possession in the first half, Le Rouge found themselves in the same 1-0 hole at the half.

Detroit City FC (2-0-0) finally broke through in the 56th minute. Elvis Amoh picked up a steal near midfield and set up Abdoulaye Diop with a bending shot from 25 yards out that found the back of the net.
