THURSDAY’S PREP GIRLS SOCCER ROUNDUP: Troy edges Eisenhower in ranked battle; Mona Shores, Plymouth Christin roll; Athens-Mercy draw

 

TROY, Mich. – Troy remained unbeaten on the year and did so with a victory Thursday over a fellow state-ranked opponent.

Troy entered the week ranked 13th in Division, according to the Michigan High School Soccer Coaches Association. Eisenhower was ranked 15th.

Olivia Jasniewicz had a goal and an assist to pace the Colts (3-0-1) and Sydney Taylor scored the other goal for Troy.

Sophomore Ellera Jakubowski scored for Eisenhower (2-1-0) off an assist from Julia Aniel.

 

MUSKEGON MONA SHORES 10, MUSKEGON 0: Shay Norden scored twice with two assists and Saidey Burns scored the brace with one assist to lead the Sailors to this mercy-shortened OKC-Green Division win. Braylin Meyers, Sophie Brown, Ava Frye, Elizabeth Eckerman, Ella Kinney and Kylie Dusenberry also scored for Mona Shores (4-1-1, 1-0-1). Eckerman, Kinney, Brown, Addison Fisher and Olivia Naylor also picked up assists for the Sailors.

 

PLYMOUTH CHRISTIAN 13, LIVONIA CLARENCEVILLE 0: Kate Creighton scored two goals and assisted on two others as the Eagles romped to this mercy-shorted win in Michigan Independent Athletic Conference play. Clare Binder also had two goals and an assist for Plymouth Christian (1-0-0 in MIAC play).

  

TROY ATHENS 1, FARMINGTON HILLS MERCY 1: Second-ranked Troy Athen s found a worthy opponent Thursday in this non-league clash. Sydney McBride scored off an assist from Lulu Thaqi for the Red Hawks.

 

ALLEGAN 6, PAW PAW 1: Allegan remained perfect on the young season with this non-conference victory Thursday. The Tigers (3-0-0) have no outscored its three opponents 9-2 and will face Southwestern Athletic Conference and Division 4 top-ranked Kalamazoo Christian on Monday to open league play.

 

GOODRICH 2, LAKE FENTON 1: Goodrich picked up the driver’s seat in the flint Metro League title chase with this league win over the Blue Devils Goodrich is 2-2-0 overall and 2-0-0 in the league, already upending defending champion Linden 6-0 earlier in the week.

 

TRAVERSE CITY ST. FRANCIS-LIBERTY UNIFIED 2, CHARLEVOIX 0: Liliana David and Sidney Peters both scored and St. Francis moved to 3-0-0 on the year. Riley Collins assisted on both goals. Paisleigh Upshaw recorded 12 saves for the clean sheet.

 

PETOSKEY 4, HARBOR SPRINGS 0: Annika Gandhi scored twice and the Norsemen picked up the non-league win. Claire O’Donnell and Haidyn Wegman also scored, Lilly Premo and Lauren Cole had assists and Sadie Corey notched the shutout for Petoskey.

 

ALLEN PARK INTER-CITY BAPTIST 2, SOUTHFIELD CHRISTIAN-NOVI CHRISTIAN UNIFIED 1: Julia Webber scored off a free kick and Kaitlyn Groh made 14 saves in a losing effort for Southfield Christian in this MIAC contest.

 

ORCHARD LAKE ST. MARY’S 1, ROYAL OAK SHRINE CATHOLIC 0: St. Mary’s opened up CHSL-AA Division play Thursday with this shutout win over the Knights. Bella Raynish scored the lone goal off an assist from Hope Richer and Kira Howcroft picked up the shutout in goal for OLSM.

 

HARTLAND 2, BRIGHTON 1: Hartland battled back from an early 1-0 deficit to earn this KLAA West Division win Thursday. Sophomore Paige Sundman scored off a rebound following a Kaite Swirczek shot and Swirczek netted the game-winner in the 69th minute when her bending cornerkick bounded into the net after a wild goal-mouth scramble. Jenna Brock made seven saves to preserve the win for Hartland (4-1-0).

 

MACOMB L’ANSE CREUSE NORTH 5, MADISON HEIGHTS LAMPHERE 0: L’Anse Creuse North moved 4-0-0 on the season with this MAC crossover victory. Olivia Salerno scored three goals and Malory Bliss scored the brace and assisted on two others for LCN. Marah Bsoul recorded the shutout for the Crusaders.
