Flint, Mich. — Flint City AFC has re-signed star forward Sammi Woods for the upcoming USL
W League season, pending league and federation approval.
“I am super excited for another season with Flint City AFC,” said Woods, who is returning for a
third year. “It is great to come back with girls I’ve grown up playing with, while getting to perform in such an amazing atmosphere. I can’t wait to see where our talent takes us this year, and I hope to see everyone at Atwood Stadium.”
Woods’ eight goals in 2023 led Flint City, whose second campaign featured an unbeaten regular season, a Great Lakes Division title, and a first playoff appearance.
This past fall, the Saline, Michigan, native captained the University of Michigan to the NCAA
Tournament in her fourth season with the program. She led the team with eight goals, bringing her total to 24. Woods was named to the Big Ten third team.
In her youth, she was a four-time team captain with Michigan Hawks. Twice, she helped guide
her teams to the Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) playoffs. In 2019, her side reached the
national championship game. The previous year, she scored 24 goals to break into the top 10
among U.S. Development Academy players across the country.
