OUTLOOK / NOTABLES / COACHES COMMENTS: Berkley is one of five teams that should contend for the OAA-White crown, along with Birmingham Seaholm, Birmingham Groves, Oxford and Lake Orion. There are seven returning starters, 10 total returnees and a very strong sophomore class looking to make an impact. Berkley started the campaign 4-1-1 through April 18, outscoring the opposition 14-1 in that stretch. “We have an experienced spine supported by hungry and dynamic underclassmen. The objective is to win the OAA-White,” said coach Zachary Hobson.

OUTLOOK / NOTABLES / COACHES COMMENTS: After starting 0-2-0 and being outscored 8-0 in that stretch, Groves has rebounded with a 3-3-0 start with a pair of shutouts. The young Falcons hope to compete in the upper echelon of the OAA-White along with Lake Orion, Oxford, Birmingham Seaholm and Berkley. There are 13 total players back and seven which were regular starters a year ago.

SCHOOL: Birmingham Seaholm

HEAD COACH: Manuel Rodrigues

2022 OVERALL RECORD / LEAGUE RECORD / LEAGUE FINISH: 10-6-3, 5-1-1 OAA White Division (second)

2022 STATE TOURNAMENT RESULTS: Def. Royal Oak (2-0); lost to Troy Athens (1-0) in D-1 districts semifinals.

STATE RUNNER-UP SEASONS: None

FINAL FOUR-REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP SEASONS: 1995, 2001

RETURNING STARTERS: Ava David, sr. D/M (All-League; All-State Honorable Mention); Samantha Sickinger, jr. F; Camryn Geller, jr. F; Lexi Beckman, sr. M; Allie Adams, sr. D; Sadie Green, sr. D; Gabriella Gonzales, sr. G

KEY NEWCOMERS: Avery Schwartz, fr. F

OUTLOOK / NOTABLES / COACHES COMMENTS: After finishing second in the OAA-White Division last season, Seaholm opted to remain in that middle-tier division. OAA-White winner Oxford opted to stay as well with third-place Clarkston opting to move up to the OAA-Red and Lake Orion coming back down. Seaholm, despite an 0-1-3 start, should battle with Oxford, Lake Orion, Berkley and Birmingham Groves for top honors in the league. There are 14 seniors on this year’s roster and a hungry group who are looking to contend for league and district crowns.

SCHOOL: Farmington

HEAD COACH: Timothy Russell

2022 OVERALL RECORD / LEAGUE RECORD / LEAGUE FINISH: 4-12-3, 1-5-1 OAA White Division (seventh)

2022 STATE TOURNAMENT RESULTS: Def. Walled Lake Western (4-1); lost to Farmington Hills Mercy (5-0) in D-1 districts semifinals.

STATE CHAMPIONSHIP SEASONS: None

STATE RUNNER-UP SEASONS: None

FINAL FOUR-REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP SEASONS: 1989

RETURNING STARTERS: Katherine Bergman, sr. D (All-League; signed with Calvin University); Taylor Burney, jr.; Mackenzie Bushey, jr.; Ella Hanson, sr.; Kaitlyn Ignasiak, sr.; Lilly Penner, sr.; Josie Puhl, soph. (All-District); Alessia Rroku, jr.; Maddy Sypitkowski, soph.; Teah Tremonti, jr.

KEY NEWCOMERS: Lydia Kamm, fr. F/M

OUTLOOK / NOTABLES / COACHES COMMENTS: A 0-5-1 start is an indicator that the Falcons are going through the rebuilding campaign blues. Farmington has been outscored 18-3 in its first six games and are having a difficult time generating chances in the offensive third. The Falcons have yet to score more than one goal in a game and have been shut out three times through April 15.

SCHOOL: Lake Orion

HEAD COACH: Co-coaches Chris Corteg (40-plus years of coaching high school, club, semi-pro and amateur soccer) and Amanda Hutchinson (starter on Rochester Adams’ 1999 state championship team)

2022 OVERALL RECORD / LEAGUE RECORD / LEAGUE FINISH: 11-8-3, 0-6-0 OAA Red Division (seventh)

2022 STATE TOURNAMENT RESULTS: Def. Flushing (2-0); def. Oxford (1-0, district finals); lost to Bloomfield Hills (4-2) in D-1 regional semifinals

STATE CHAMPIONSHIP SEASONS: None

STATE RUNNER-UP SEASONS: None

RETURNING STARTERS: Brook Blackstock, jr. CB (All-State Second Team; committed to Oakland University); Whitney Acker, sr. M; Ana Wandrie, sr. M (signed with NCAA Division I Coastal Carolina); Grace Sullivan, sr. D; Audrey Llewelyn, sr. M/F; Erin Regalia, jr. M; Kylie Kopitzke, soph. G

OTHER KEY RETURNEES: Makenzie Tabish, soph. F; Dylan Verlindin, soph. F

KEY NEWCOMERS: Gabby Butki, fr. M; Addie Verlindin, fr. F; Mallory Divozio, soph. M

OUTLOOK / NOTABLES / COACHES COMMENTS: Even though Lake Orion did not win a conference game last season, the Dragons still found time to win a second straight district title. This season Lake Orion drops down to the OAA White Division where it expects to be a top tier team in that division and then contend again for another district title. So far this season the Dragons have outscored the opposition 11-3 and started 3-1-1 overall.

SCHOOL: North Farmington

HEAD COACH: Erika Rust

2022 OVERALL RECORD / LEAGUE RECORD / LEAGUE FINISH: 8-6-2, 8-0-2 OAA Blue Division (first, co-champs)

2022 STATE TOURNAMENT RESULTS: Lost to Farmington Hills Mercy (6-0) in D-1 pre-district.

STATE CHAMPIONSHIP SEASONS: None

STATE RUNNER-UP SEASONS: None

RETURNING STARTERS: Makenna Fetzer, sr. D; Caitlyn McLane, jr. M/CB.

OTHER KEY RETURNEES:

KEY NEWCOMERS:

OUTLOOK / NOTABLES / COACHES COMMENTS: After sharing the OAA Blue Division crown with Auburn Hills Avondale last season, the Raiders will find it more difficult in the OAA-White this spring as an 0-5-0 start indicates. All of North Farmington’s victories last season were against OAA-Blue opponents and the Raiders were shut out in the district opener.

SCHOOL: Oxford

HEAD COACH: Gabby Schriver, first season

2022 OVERALL RECORD / LEAGUE RECORD / LEAGUE FINISH: 14-5-2, 6-1-0 OAA White Division (first)

2022 STATE TOURNAMENT RESULTS: Def. Clarkston (4-3, 2OT); def. Davison (4-1); lost to Lake Orion (1-0) in D-1 district finals

STATE CHAMPIONSHIP SEASONS: None

STATE RUNNER-UP SEASONS: None

RETURNING STARTERS: Ella Boyd, jr. M/F (All-League; last year’s leading scorer); Lexi Owens, sr. M; Alyssa Kuhl, sr. M (signed with Mars Hill University); Anna Terenzi, soph., M/F; Amelia Brown, soph. M; Samantha Zeiter, soph. F; Alexandria Dawood, sr. M.

OTHER KEY RETURNEES: Korinne Ihrke, jr. G; Kayla Fox, jr. D; Kiley Myrand, sr. M; Maggie Casper, jr. D.

KEY NEWCOMERS: Sierra Owens, fr. D; Madelyn Boyd, fr. M/F; Julia Marsh, sr. D; Madison Mauser, jr. M; Paige Rushlow, jr.; Vivian Cruz, soph.; Allison Hufstedler, soph.; Ryan Walters, soph.

OUTLOOK / NOTABLES / COACHES COMMENTS: Gabby Schriver takes over the helm from John Tayler in a program that captured an OAA-White league crown last season but graduated 13 total players from a squad that won 14 games. There is still plenty of holdover talent and some promising newcomers that should keep this squad in contention.

SCHOOL: Royal Oak

HEAD COACH: Tom Pavlovich

2022 OVERALL RECORD / LEAGUE RECORD / LEAGUE FINISH: 3-12-4, 2-3-2 OAA-White (sixth)

2022 STATE TOURNAMENT RESULTS: Lost to Birmingham Seaholm (2-0) in a Division 1 pre-districts match

STATE CHAMPIONSHIP SEASONS: None

STATE RUNNER-UP SEASONS: None

FINAL FOUR-REGIONAL CHAQMPIONSHIP SEASONS: 2002 (as Royal Oak Kimball)

RETURNING STARTERS: Ella Kaszeta, sr. CB (All-League, All-District; signed with California University of Pennsylvania); Kathryn Eckels, sr. M; Isabelle Fairless, sr. M; Gillian Iles, sr. F; Jessica Jenkins, sr. D; Amelia Kockis, sr. D; Finja Moellenhoff, sr. F; Gabrielle Smida, sr.; Scarlett Van Emery, sr. D; Jaiden Webster, sr. D/M (Olivet College)

OTHER KEY RETURNEES: Hailey Barnwell, soph. OB/M; Gracie Jagodzinski, soph. M/F.

OUTLOOK / NOTABLES / COACHES COMMENTS: A reasonably large senior class of 10 hopes to keep Royal Oak in the OAA-White title chase after a rebuilding campaign a year ago that saw the Ravens only win three games. Two seniors have already committed to colleges and this team has experience at the varsity level with 12 total returnees.
